Apex was founded in 2005 by Chicago-area natives Joe and Angie McGilvrey, who moved to Southwest Florida to establish a physical therapist-owned practice in paradise.
Apex exists to change lives and challenge the status quo. We believe in pioneering elite health and wellness, well beyond the standard medical or rehabilitation models. We believe in autonomous practice and that physical therapy is the ideal entry point into the medical system for musculoskeletal pain or injury.
Our vision is to create a mecca for athletes of all ages. One that provides a spectrum of holistic care, from rehab, injury management, prevention, performance, recovery, and nutrition, to mindset training and resilient lifestyle strategies.

Serving our Southwest Florida Community
We live by our core values and thoroughly enjoy serving our community. On any given week, you might find us at a local YMCA, church, or fitness center.
Our practitioners regularly volunteer at local gyms, CrossFit boxes, and fitness competitions to provide performance and recovery services, injury assessments, and answer health-related questions, free of charge. We also truly love teaching and reading to local kids about rescue dogs and kindness and showing off our therapy dog PT, whose message to “Never Give Up” is an inspiration to kids and adults alike.
