CONCUSSIVE & VESTIBULAR PROGRAM

CONCUSSIVE & VESTIBULAR PROGRAM

Changing Lives and Challenging the Status Quo

At Apex, we provide an extensive concussion program that combines vestibular therapy and exertional therapy to treat patients and athletes with Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS).

A concussion is a type of mild traumatic brain injury that is caused by a direct or indirect force to the head and neck. This can result in abnormal vestibular system functioning with symptoms including vertigo or dizziness, nausea, headaches, eye strain and blurriness, motion sensitivity, balance problems, and difficulty concentrating. The vestibular system connects the inner ear to the brain and helps control balance and eye movement.

The Apex Difference

No two concussions are the same. When you come to us with post-concussion syndrome, you will be looked after by a highly specialized team of physical therapists and exercise professionals who will provide elite, comprehensive concussion care tailored to your personal needs.

Starting with a comprehensive evaluation including research-backed Impact Testing, a Visual Oculomotor Screening, and Exertion Testing, our specialty-trained physical therapists will design an individualized program that is continuously re-assessed to produce optimum results.

Our Elite Program

Conventional programs typically have athletes sitting out of sport for long periods of time with delayed treatment. Using the most up-to-date research, we believe in intervention as swiftly as possible post-concussion. The sooner we can intervene, the faster we can get you back to doing the things you love.

Our Elite program – which uses a team approach to make sure you have a seamless transition of care – gives you results typically in 30 days. After an assessment, our Vestibular and Exertional physical therapists will design a program that combines aerobic and strength-training exercises as well as vestibular re-education activities. A typical program includes three to five visits for vestibular training and three to five visits for exertional training.
