Knee Pain Treatment in Fort Myers & Cape Coral Without Surgery or More Injections

60-minute one-on-one sessions to get you back to walking, squatting, and running without guesswork.

No doctor’s script needed60-minute 1-on-1 visitsDay-one diagnostic testing

If your knee pain is stopping you from stairs, workouts, or just normal life, this is for you.

Most people we see at Apex have already tried “resting it,” sleeves, YouTube exercises, maybe even injections. It helps a little, then the pain comes back the moment they try to do more.

At Apex, we help people in Fort Myers and Cape Coral who want a clear, step-by-step plan to fix knee pain and get back to the activities they care about, without bouncing between specialists.

Who this is for

What kind of knee pain do you have?

Most knees we see fall into one of these buckets.

Front-of-Knee Pain

Patellofemoral / “runner’s knee”
  • Hurts with stairs, squatting, running, or sitting long
  • Feels achy or sharp around or behind the kneecap

Inside or Outside Joint Line Pain

Meniscus / cartilage / arthritis
  • Pain with twisting, deep bending, or weight-bearing
  • Sometimes swelling or stiffness after activity

Post-Injury or Post-Surgery Knee

ACL, meniscus repair, scope, or “clean-up” surgery
  • Weakness, stiffness, or lack of confidence in the knee

“Old Injury That Never Fully Got Better”

On-and-off for years
  • Pain that flares with activity or weather
  • You’ve adjusted your life around it (no running, no squats, etc.)

Red flags: see a doctor or ER first

  • Big trauma (car accident, fall from height)
  • Sudden inability to put weight through the leg
  • Fever, or a hot, red, swollen knee with feeling sick
  • Sudden large, unexplained swelling

If that’s you, go to a physician or ER first. For almost everyone else, PT is usually the front-line option.

Your first visit

What happens in a knee pain evaluation at Apex?

A typical first visit is about 60 minutes, one-on-one, and includes:

  1. Conversation

    10–15 minutes

How it started, what makes it better/worse, and what you need your knee to do (work, sport, kids, gym).

  2. Movement and strength testing

    5–10 minutes

Squats, stairs, walking, balance. Hip and ankle motion (because they change knee load). Strength of quads, glutes, hamstrings, and calves.

  3. Targeted hands-on testing

    5–10 minutes

Specific joint line, ligaments, and tissues around the knee.

  4. MSK Ultrasound

    10–15 minutes

Like an MRI and X-ray all in one — to assess the condition of the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves.

  5. Clear diagnosis and game plan

    5–10 minutes

The likely source of your pain, movements to adjust right now, and the recommended number of sessions and timeline.

  6. Treatment

    Based on the findings above.

You leave knowing:

  • What’s going on
  • Exactly what to do between visits
  • What we’ll do in the clinic each session

No mystery, no “let’s just see what happens.”

Visits & plans

How many visits does it usually take?

Every case is different, but here are the typical patterns we see.

Your situationTypical visitsTimeframePlan that usually fits
Mild front-of-knee pain / overuse4–8 visits3–5 weeks6-Session Plan
Meniscus / arthritis-type pain8–12 visits6–8 weeks12-Session Plan
Post-op ACL or meniscus repair12+ visitsSeveral months12- or 21-Session Plan

That’s why we usually recommend PLANS of 6, 12, or 21 sessions instead of random drop-ins:

Enough volume to rebuild strength and control
A clear start and finish line
Better price per session than random drop-ins

If we think you only need a handful of focused visits and a strong home plan, we’ll tell you.

When is cash-based PT worth it?

Cash-based PT usually makes sense if:

  • You want full 60-minute sessions with a specialist, not 10 rushed minutes
  • Knee pain is already costing you work, training, or time with family
  • You’ve tried basic rest or bracing and it keeps coming back

People often compare the cost to:

  • Missed work or having to quit activities they love
  • Copays for short, low-attention visits
  • More imaging or injections that don’t change how the knee actually moves

If you’re not sure it’s worth it, that’s exactly what the first visit is for: to decide together if a plan of care is actually likely to change your situation.

Bob’s story

Biker and Runner

Bob came in post–knee surgery, eager but unsure when he’d safely return to running and biking. With a focused, progressive rehab plan centered on proper movement and strength, he rebuilt confidence in his knee.

The result: just 3 weeks and 10 sessions later, he’s back to running and biking — moving well and doing what he loves again.

“I am thrilled to share that Apex PT is the real deal! They are aggressively helping to reverse and heal bilateral knee pain. The number of therapies and the diligence of the PTs are the key that makes them stand out from other similar programs. I absolutely love Evyn and Thomas! They are truly getting me back to doing what I love — going to the gym, and most importantly, chasing around with my grandchildren!!”

Common questions we get about knee pain

Do I need an MRI first?

Not always. Many knee issues can be diagnosed and treated based on your history and physical exam — plus our MSK ultrasound on day one. If we see signs that imaging or a surgeon consult is needed, we’ll tell you.

Can PT help if I’ve been told I have arthritis?

Often YES. We can’t change the X-ray, but we can change strength, alignment, and load so the joint moves and feels better.

Will I have exercises to do at home?

YES. The work you do between sessions is what locks in your progress. We keep it realistic so you’ll actually do it.

Do I need a script from a doctor to schedule a session?

NO. You can be treated in the state of Florida without a script or referral from a doctor.
